IMATS LA 2009 Student CompetitionFor the first time ever, IMATS will be offering four hands-on master classes at this year’s IMATS LA! If you haven’t heard about these master classes yet, here are some basic questions and answers about them. Keep in mind that they are NOT included in the IMATS admission fees for the 2-day event, but they will be very thorough and VERY hands-on. Check out the info below if you want to know more about it! For more information about the artists conducting the master classes, click here.

Q: A while back, I received an email about classes being offered on Friday. However, since then, I haven’t heard or seen anything about them on the website or anywhere. I was wondering if the classes are still a go and if they’re open to everyone attending IMATS that paid for the classes.

A: This is the first year that we are offering 4-hour master classes and we were so excited to spread the word that we told you all about it before we had all of our class descriptions confirmed. They are definitely still a go, and we should have all of the detailed info up on line today.

Q: Which artists are teaching master classes? What are the subjects? What are the times?

—-Friday, 6/25 from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm: Vargas will be teaching “Fantasy Body Art: Carnivale, Masks, and Brush Effects”
—-Friday, 6/25 from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm: Kevin James Bennett will be teaching “Beauty Outside The Box”
—-Monday, 6/28 from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm: Eve Pearl will be teaching “Reverse Contouring for All Ages”
—-Monday, 6/28 from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm: Rae Morris will be teaching a class (subject coming soon)

Q: How much does it cost to participate in a master class?

A: Each class is capped at 20 students maximum, to ensure a quality hands-on training experience. Due to the intimate size and level of training provided, these classes cost $195 each. This cost is not related to the price of admission to IMATS, and must be reserved separately. This cost does, however, include admission for one model per student at each master class. (Students are required to bring their own models or work on themselves.)

Q: I have a friend who has paid for her 2-day ticket but opted to pick them up at will-call. Will this affect her being able to attend the classes on Friday?

A: The cost to reserve a space at one of our master classes is $195. This cost is not associated with the price of admission to IMATS, and must be purchased separately. Participation in a master class will not affect the will-call status of your ticket to IMATS.

Q: How many people can go to each class?

A: Each master class will accommodate a maximum of 20 students.

Q: What should I bring? Will makeup be provided? Will models be provided?

A: Each participant will need to bring their kit, brushes, and any other tools they find necessary. They are also expected to bring their own models. The price of a master class includes admission for one model per student. If a student would rather work on his/her own face, that is fine as well.

Q: Can I reserve my master class space at IMATS?

A: These master classes will be filled on a first-come first-served basis, but keep in mind that by the time IMATS opens on Saturday, two of the four classes will already be over. If there is any space left in the two remaining master classes (taught by Eve Pearl and Rae Morris) we will have a sign-up area at the Make-Up Artist magazine booth on the show floor.
