Review: OCC Lip Tars w/ Swatches

If you haven’t had a chance to get your hands on these babies, let me just say they are wonderful! The tars are completely opaque and are rather easy to apply. In many of the reviews/videos that I’ve seen on these puppies, the reviewer has said that a little bit goes a long way. They weren’t kidding. I was expecting that a dot the size of a q-tip point would be too little; however, I found that it was actually TOO MUCH! So these tars will actually last you a REALLY long time. In my opinion, this justifies and actually exceeds the $12.50 cost, especially considering the fact that a MAC lipstick costs $14.50!
From left to right: Pageant, NSFW, Orange, Grandma, Traffic, Botanical, Rx, Conquest, Feathered, Tarred.

The texture of the product is a bit different from what I expected though. I had imagined that the texture would be more thick like a lipgloss, however, the tars have a consistency that reminds me of the acrylic paints that you would find in the craft sections of stores. That’s not actually a bad thing though. Just an observation. The tars apply very easily with the use of a lip brush. You could also use your finger if you wanted to but these tars do tend to stain. After swatching Rx, I left the tar on my lips for about 2 hours. When I tried taking it off with a make-up wipe, it wouldn’t completely come off. I even scrubbed with a cotton ball saturated with Ben Nye make-up remover and my lips still had a deep purple stain to them…even after eating dinner a few hours later, they still had a bit of a blue tint. Thankfully, I didn’t have anywhere to go the night I swatched these, so I didn’t mind the staining.
Overall I highly recommend these if you’re into highly pigmented lips and/or like to mix and match your own colors for your lips. They’re pretty fun to play with and you definitely get your money’s worth considering the fact that you need VERY little of it to got an extremely long way.
THE PROS:
-Highly pigmented (and that’s an understatement!!).
-Easy to apply.
-Long-lasting wear.
-Doesn’t dry out lips.
-Very little is needed for full color.
THE CONS:
-Stains your lips for a while (this could also be considered a pro if you’re using one of the more “society friendly” colors like NSFW or Grandma).
Cost: $12.50 USD

I love it! You’re killing me Fran, I was contemplating whether to get these or not but I see more and more people reviewing this stuff I can’t handle it!
I’m wondering if these feel drying at all? Also, have you tried MAC Lipmixes? I’m wondering how they compare because I own lots of Lipmixes already and wanted to know if I should also invest in some Lip Tars. The lighter color lipmixes tend to be drying so is that the case with these? How did the white lip tar feel? Is it drying? Sorry for so many questions! Thanks for the swatches.
