Review Time: Harajuku Hunnies
WARNING! Pic heavy post!
I received a lovely shipment of samples, a palette, and a lip gloss from Trinity of Harajuku Hunnies a week or two ago and have been trying to get the chance to upload these pics and share this info with you! Some of you may know Trinity as missmauimac on Youtube. Harajuku Hunnies is her very own cosmetics line inspired by her passion for beauty, art, and personal self-expression through both.
Alright. Enough history. Let’s get to what you really came to see…the pictures! All Sex Pot and palette swatches were applied over UDPP with a 3/8″ Maxine’s Mop brush. Feel free to click on the pics to see them BIGGER. (p.s. Make sure to read to the bottom if you want to receive a 10% discount with your purchase!)
Smoke Signals palette & 6 Sex Pot Samples. In order from Left to Right, the Sex Pots are: Caribbean Coral, Haute Hunny, Geisha, Asphyxiated, Bahama Blue by Rodney, and Assassin.
Smoke Signals Palette Swatches
As you can see, the palette is really rather pigmented! I personally would prefer that there be a medium-to-dark brown somewhere in the mix instead of one of the taupey-browns, but all the same this is still a well-put together palette. You can easily use it for a subtle day time look, and then add some drama for a smokin’ night time look! This palette, as well as the other 5-color palettes, can be purchased for $24.00. That roughly breaks down to $4.80 a shadow! Not too shabby in my book!
Sex Pots – Caribbean Coral, Geisha, Haute Hunny
I really, REALLY like the Sex Pots! They will run you $10.50 per pot. They are super duper pigmented with a great color payoff to boot! They glide on smoothly and blend with the greatest of ease. The shimmery-glittery effect is beautiful on the eyes as well. I think I only have one drawback when it comes the the shimmer though: fallout. The color itself doesn’t have a bad fallout problem…just the sparkles. There is an easy remedy for this though: Apply your eye makeup FIRST, and then follow it up with the rest of your foundation. I’ve been applying my makeup in this order lately anyways. It makes for less messy fallout mishaps, and also keeps you from using more and more products because you’re having to touch-up your already applied foundation/concealer! Presto! Fallout fixed!
I think my favorite color of the Sex Pots that I got would have to be a tie between Haute Hunny and Bahama Blue by Rodney. Beautiful colors!! My least favorite would have to be Caribbean Coral, but only because it didn’t really show up on me as well as I’d like. I wouldn’t say that it had anything to do with the product though; just my skin tone. I swatched it on my husband who is as white as Casper, and it showed up beautifully on him!
Lip Shine – Soul Glow
The lip shine is WONDERFUL! The color of Soul Glow itself reminds me of one of my favorite MAC lipglasses (the name escapes me at the moment, go figure). As for the consistency of the gloss, if you were to take MAC’s lipglass formula and mix it with their 3Dglass formula from a couple of years ago, you get the consistency of the Harajuku Hunnies Lip Shines. Not too sticky, not too slick, but juuuust right! I’ve found myself reaching for this lipgloss more than my MAC lipglasses because I just LOVE how it feels on my lips and how great it looks on! $9.00 each.
