WTF?!?! Whatever Happened to Separation of Church and State??
I wasn’t able to vote in California this November because I am considered a resident of North Carolina, but if I were still considered a California resident, I would have proudly voted against Prop 8. Now those who supported the California proposition banning same-sex marriages are out to take that right away from those couples who are already happily married (CNN report). Isn’t taking away their right to get married enough (and yes, it is just as much their right as it is any heterosexuals’ right)?!?! Now they have to take the littlest glimmer of hope that we can all get along as human beings without prejudice away from them too?? It is perfectly okay to think that a homosexual couple can raise a child together, but it’s wrong for them to share in the bonds of being recognized as a married couple?!? Isn’t that a bit hypocritical?
I am one who will gladly listen to anyone’s religious beliefs, even if I don’t agree with them. I will patiently and attentively listen to why you think I’m going to hell because I’m not Mormon, Seventh-Day Adventist, Catholic, Methodist, or a faithfully practicing and commandment abiding person of the Muslim, Jewish, or Christian faiths. But how can you expect anyone to have respect for your right to preach the Bible when you don’t respect the rights of gays and lesbians? They’re regular human beings too. GLBTs breath the same air, have the same heart beat, eat the same food, yet they’re different in that they can’t express love like the rest of the world? Let’s take a short moment to have a quick Bible study…
James 4:11 “Brothers do not slander one another,”
James 4:12 “But you – who are you to judge your neighbor?”
Romans 2:1 “Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.”
Let’s close out this Bible session, shall we?
Matthew 7:1-4 Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Wake up America. It’s pretty sad when we’re no longer the country that believes in the three most important principles that this land of the “free” was founded on: Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Abraham Lincoln said it best 145 years ago: “Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.” He is probably rolling over in his grave knowing that there is an ongoing battle for equality amongst all humans.
